3:30 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. slot: In this 10-minute interval, the weighted price of the stock traded between 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. is calculated to determine the closing price of the shares in the Nifty for the given day.

3:40 p.m. to 4 p.m. slot: Following the day’s trade, a trader can still place an order or choose to sell it during this interval. However, the placement is confirmed only if there are subsequent buyers and sellers trading during that time.

Block deal session timings/post-closing session: As the name suggests, these trades take place in bulk or shares. They are usually conducted by brokers during trading hours and notified before the stock exchange. The session lasts for 35 minutes.

Equity shares: When one invests in equity shares, its value is based on the demand and supply of shares issued by the company.

Derivatives: Such shares derive value from an underlying asset, group of assets or benchmark, which may include stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies, interest rates, market indexes, etc.

SLB segment: It refers to securities lending and borrowing. BSE allows its members and even banks and custodians to lend securities to maximize their yields, and for borrowers to avoid settlement failures.

Tri-party repo: It is a contract that involves a third entity, or tri-party agent, who acts like a mediator between lender and borrower to facilitate various types of trading transactions.
